Help with upcoming shows?

If you're going to any of the upcoming shows in Australia, and wouldn't mind helping me with the setlist reports, please let me know.

Still looking for help from Splendour. Is anyone going? Can anyone help out?

Splendour in the Grass exit troubles

Just a heads up for those heading to Splendour, it sounds like a total nightmare trying to get out of there after the show. 3 hour + bus wait, people resorting to walking home on dark roadways, etc. Read the comments on the Facebook post here and here.

The AU picks their favorite Cure videos

"The Cure are set to deliver some of their largest sets ever seen by Australian fans, kicking off with their appearance at Splendour in the Grass this weekend. The set lists have proven to be extensive, with recent shows on the band’s world tour extending out to four encores, with the song count exceeding 30.

With such a large and beloved back catalogue of music behind them, these gigs are set to be a treat for any Cure fans on this side of the globe and we can’t wait to see how their upcoming headline shows roll out. While we twiddle our thumbs and wait for them to kick off however, we’ve jumped down a YouTube rabbit hole and have been revisiting some of our favourite videos from Robert Smith and co."

See their picks here. Note the criminal exclusion of the Charlotte Sometimes video! Seriously, I'm the only person who actually loves it. :)

Faster Louder ranks The Cure albums

13. Wild Mood Swings
12. 4:13 Dream
11. Wish
10. The Top
9. The Head on the Door
8. The Cure
7. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
6. Bloodflowers
5. Three Imaginary Boys
4. Seventeen Seconds
3. Faith
2. Pornography
1. Disintegration

Go complain and argue at Faster Louder. :)

Cure in Auckland, NZ show info

From the email sent out by Vector Arena:

5.00pm - Tuning Fork Diner Open
6.30pm - Arena Doors Open
8.00pm - THE CURE
11.00pm - Approximate Show End

*All timings are approximate and are open to artistic interpretation. Please click 'Event Details' for updates.

We're getting amped for The Cure's long awaited concert this Thursday evening! Please read on for important event information to ensure you have a great night out.

Doors open at 6.30pm and The Cure are onstage at approximately 8pm, it will be a busy night so make sure you arrive in plenty of time to grab a drink and find your seat before the lights go out! If you selected to print your own tickets at home, please remember to print them out before you arrive.

Please enter via the entry door as stated on your ticket. If you've purchased seated tickets, you'll need to head up the stairs once you arrive. For doors 1-15 head up the stairs to your left, and for doors 16-30 head up the stairs on the right, there are bars and food outlets upstairs too. The general admission standing area can be accessed via the ground floor. Our ticket explanation guide has more information.

Make travel to the gig hassle free with the Uber smartphone app, Vector Arena has teamed up with Uber to offer a free first ride (up to $20) to new Uber users! Check out the full details here.

As there will be a high number of people coming on foot there will be on-street parking restrictions and road closures from approximately 5.30pm around the arena. Regretfully, the tow truck guys can be very enthusiastic, so please check the signage very carefully to avoid getting your night spoiled.

For official event parking less than a 5 minute walk to the arena, please visit www.arenacarpark.co.nz, please be aware, due to high volumes of traffic there may be a delay getting away from the area.

If you're getting dropped off and/or picked up after the show, let your ride know about the designated passenger drop off zone near the footbridge on Quay Street, to avoid the road closures mentioned above. This is also the drop-off and pick-up location for Uber rides.

We're expecting the gig to end at 11pm, however, all show timings are approximate and open to artistic interpretation. Public transport details are available on the AT website, including details of additional late night train services on the western and southern lines, just for this show!

The Cure are renowned for having impressive and loud concerts, ear plugs are available from the information stand inside the arena between Entry D & Entry E and at the cloakroom nearby to Entry B.

Please double check our event details page on the day of the show just in case there are any last minute changes, you can also access it from The Cure event page on our website.

Enjoy the show!

(Thanks Matt)

Bring back the danger!

Make Robert's request a reality! Bring back the lighters! If you're going to any of the upcoming shows, hold up a lighter between encores, not your cell phone. #MakeRockShowsDangerousAgain #LightersForRobert :)

The Cure For What Ails You

From Simon Sweetman at Stuff:

OPINION: If you're talking "Bucket List Gigs" – and besides the fact that that's a horrible term – there's certainly one this week, The Cure live in Auckland.

The Cure has played New Zealand shows before, but not for many years.
The Cure is, quite remarkably, a band that manages to be nearly all things for nearly all people. Want a great singles band? You've got it.

Their singles are usually available in 7" and 12" variety, often with different B-sides, and there have been two excellent collections of The Cure's singles as long-play compilations. Got someone, erm, close to you, who isn't quite sold on the band – give them a copy of Standing On The Beach to absorb. That'll cure em!

It plays through like an alternative greatest hits/career summary. The remixes of some of the band's biggest hits and best album tracks are worth hearing on their own – again you can hear them all in one place if you like.

There are instrumentals and cover versions, there are live albums.

The Cure doesn't ever quite sound like any other band but The Cure. And for those that want to write the band off as same-sounding or "boring", there are over a dozen full-length records to hear across 40 years.
