Live webcast of The Cure's set at Lollapalooza!

Lollapalooza will once again be offering live webcasts from the festival. No schedule has been released yet, and no guarantee they'll show The Cure. But let's all hope Robert gives permission to air their set. And maybe even more than the usual 1 hour rule? (Thanks @object29)

Update (07/30/13): Now confirmed. The Cure's set will be webcast. Sunday night at 9:15 PM eastern, 8:15 PM central, 7:15 PM mountain, 6:15 PM pacific.

Update (08/01/13): The newly updated webcast schedule gives us hope for a full Cure set, not just the typical hour. They now have The Cure at 8:15, and Phoenix at 10:15. They could add someone in the middle of that, but for now, it looks good.

Note: If you saw Friday night's Nine Inch Nails webcast, you know this has the potential to be the best Cure webcast ever. The video & audio were outstanding! So was NIN. A phenomenal performance!

Next Trilogy/Reflections shows in 2014?

So they don't get lost in the Honolulu Meet & Greet topic, I'm giving them their own.

From Nando: "Robert revealed that there were plans for a Reflections-like tour focusing on The Top, The Head on the Door, and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me!"

From Darrell: "As with others, when I busted out my Reflections limited Litho, Robert said they are working out the next Reflections/Trilogy type show for next year, with The Top, Head on the Door, and Kiss Me!"

Why is the King of Secrets & Obfuscation being so chatty about these shows? And should that make us believe in them more? Or less? :)

Tickets for sale & hotel offer

Larra has 1 Sunday Lollapalooza ticket for sale at face value: $102. Email laand(at)bellsouth(dot)net.

"Unfortunately I had to sell my tix for Sunday at Lollapalooza.  With our 15 month old running around the trip to Chicago just wasn't in the cards. I booked a hotel room through hotels.com at The Crowne Plaza. Non-refundable. Not sweating it, but rather than canceling I'd certainly be willing to give the room to a true Cure fan if someone wants a free, nice room within a couple miles of the gig. I imagine I would just have to change the reservation name by calling hotels.com. If anyone shows interest, let me know and I will see what I can do." If interested, email mcgraw_sean(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Robert interview at Fuji Rock

Brief clip from an interview with Robert at Fuji Rock 2013.

Vote for 'Head on the Door' in Best of 1985 poll

Slicing Up Eyeballs' ongoing Best of the 80s project continues with their Best Album of 1985 poll, and 'The Head on the Door' is one of the options.

Update: 'The Head on the Door' came in at #1! And that's one hell of a Top 5!

Help from Montreal?

If you're going to the Osheaga Festival and wouldn't mind helping me with the live setlist & reports (via Twitter, email, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.), please let me know. Thanks!

Olivier will be there providing live reports if at all possible, but we can always use some backup, in case batteries die or connections fail. If you can help out, please do.

Honolulu Meet & Greet

Scenes from The Cure's Meet & Greet in Honolulu, including dress signing & Robert playing a ukulele. It's very funny.  And awkward. And a bit weird. And Simon steals the show. :)

From Nando: "Here is a photo of Robert and I from the meet & greet at the Honolulu show. It was absolutely fantastic. Robert was awesome and very chatty. We didnt have much time with the band. About 10 minute and we went in groups of 10. We were allowed a camera and one article for them to sign. I met Simon at a beach bar the day before the show and he remembered me which was cool. Roger and I had a chat about when he lived in Canada and how he was once almost a Canadian. Was overall an amazing experience. The show that followed I'd have to say was one of the best shows I've seen to date. Last night was my 10th and it definitely wasn't my last. I'll send another photo of Roger, Simon and I.
Robert revealed that there were plans for a Reflections-like tour focusing on The Top, The Head on the Door, and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me! Exciting times for us Cure fans on the horizon :D"

Did you attend the Meet & Greet with The Cure in Honolulu? Would you mind sharing your experiences and photos with us? Thanks!

Let them eat cake!

Reeves posted this on his Facebook this morning. And as someone else asked, when did Trent Reznor replace Simon in the band? :)

Fraggle Rock? No, Cave of Penises!

'Lovesong' was Music Video of the day at Chicagoist yesterday. Not really news, but I have to post it because of this: "Seriously, it looks like this video was filmed at Fraggle Rock." Oh if only! No, this was filmed in Tim Pope's Cave of Penises. :)

Honolulu preshow fan gathering

"I work at Kincaid’s in Ward Warehouse, on the corner of Ward Ave and Ala Moana Blvd. 1050 Ala Moana Blvd.  We are having a gathering before the Cure show starting at 3:30pm for Happy Hour. It is a great place for Happy Hour, great drinks and food, and you can leave your car there in the garage, and walk to and from the venue in about 10 mins." (Thanks Darrell)

Update: Here's the Facebook event page for it.

Robert's band sketch from Fuji Rock booklet

"This drawing of Robert is from the artist message section of the FRF 2013 official booklet. The Chinese letter written in the upper right side means "cure" in Japanese. He also gave his drawing as a message from the artist for the FRF 2007 booklet. " (Thanks @Mrs_Lament)

Keeping an eye on Flossie

Tropical Storm Flossie is starting to become a problem for fans traveling to the Honolulu show, as Tropical Storm watches & warnings have been posted for the islands, and flights are being cancelled.
If you're traveling today, be sure to check with your airline and see what your status is, and if you can move your flight to an earlier or later time. As soon as I hear anything about the show going on or being canceled/postponed, I'll post ASAP. Good luck, safe travels, and let's all keep our fingers crossed that it all works out.

Latest update: And now an earthquake, just for fun. From the Weather Channel - "As if weren't enough, a 3.5 struck near coast of Oahu, 19 mi E of Honolulu at 10:30am HST (54 min ago)." But in better news, the band have arrived safely in Honolulu! On with the show!

Remember how good things looked this morning? Yeah, not so much now. Have heard of 4 more flight cancellations, including Autumn's, Sarah's, and Chris'. Not good. :(
And this from Darrell in Honolulu: "And now to make things worse, the storm has shifted north, and slowed down a bit. The new track has it coming directly over US now!"

As of now, the show is still on, and the worst of the weather looks like it will be gone before the show starts. Last I heard, the band were on their way. Olivier has made it there safely, so expect his live coverage from the show. Jay has been there for a few days, torturing me with beautiful beach photos from his balcony, so he's good. Good luck & safe travels to all fans heading there today.

Keep an eye on the National Weather Service in Honolulu and Hawaii News Now for the latest on the storm. (Thanks Darrell)
