Rumor: Cure at Bilbao BBK Live 2012

Another European festival rumor, this time for Spain. Conciertos Ultrasonicos (English translation) says The Cure will be headlining the Bilbao BBK Live 2012 festival with Radiohead in July.
(Thanks ikbenwel)

Again, just like with the Rockwave rumor, until/unless it's listed at Thecure.com, it isn't happening. Just something interesting to keep an eye on in the coming months. Let's hope these rumors, and the ones still to come, turn out to be true.

  3. What a meeting if Robert gets the opportunity to tell Thom Yorke what he thinks of Radiohead's fake-behavior ! A very good band musically (even if their last album is half fantastic half a shame) but who's not ideologically what it pretends to be... When I told you that The Cure were an exception !

  4. Well, I really hope it's true.
There's also another rumour about them playing in Chile in April 2012after a gig supposedly scheduled in Miami on March of the same year.
Who knows if it's true or not but the info came from a well known newspaper from that country.

  6. haha @davidaftertherain

i love radiohead actually, but i agree that KOL didn't live up to expectations..

  7. I want them to play a Tour for us, like a real Tour supporting a new Record.

I just don't go to Festivals, they are to exspensive ...AND...
Setlists are way better on solo concerts, meaning: less hits - more suprises.

  8. and yes, the last radiohead was half fantastic, half ...strange (but at least half fantastic)

"KID A" is one of my fav records though, and that was weird too :)

  9. @HombreLobo the weirdness is usually good. just that KOL was a little.. more of the same, don't you think?

  10. The March 25 date at Bicentennial Park falls on the dates of Ultra Musicfestival ... could they be headlining?

  11. @Lindsey

Yeah, more or less it was quite the same style.

But as long as the music is good, ...
hey i think it's pretty hard to always sound different.

And you can tell by "the cure" that there are a lot of fans out there that do not like certain records. And The Cure always sound different, it's a matter of taste (and sometimes just a matter of where you are in life)

  14. Guys, don't get your hopes up for that Miami Ultrafest listing. That seems to happen every year and is usually a mistake, and just a result of them playing there in 07.

That listing has been there for over a month now, and I had asked Roger about it, and at the time, he said no, it was very unlikely to be true.

Will keep an eye on it, but it seems pretty doubtful.

However, the rumor of New Order playing there appears to be true.

  15. I hate to say this but I REALLY hope they don't play Miami Ultra EVER AGAIN. We went to it in 07 when they played and it was dreadful. They were the second-to-last "band" (actually they were the only real band there, everyone else were dj's with laptops) and during the encores, all the Miami knuckleheads were booing The Cure and shouting for Tiesto to come on stage!! AUGH!

  16. Craig, please correct the subject of the post to Bilbao.

I also love their music and saw them live several times. But I have to say I've been disappointed but Radiohead's behavior. The way they marketed the In Rainbows release shocked me. The so-called free music concept was just a way to get lots of free promotion and I'd like to ask TY why he didn't keep doing the same with their following releases, why they didn't propose a pay-what-you-want to attend their gigs ! In fact they did exactly the controry, charging the Main Square Festival with a brand new twice-the-price-concept ! Funny, isn't it ?

  18. definitely agree @davidaftertherain

  19. two of my favorite bands together! what a double treat! even though robert hated the fact that radiohead release their music with pay-what-you-want marketing...i remember robert mentioned radiohead as one of his favorite bands ever... :)

  20. Just a little curespotting, on french/german tv, yesterday afternoon, in a report about the trade of salt in the Danakil desert, east of Africa, not the most obvious place to find cure fans, still, a t-shirt on the shoulders of a camel's guard.
